Bea's father Brian was an equine vet who committed suicide at the age of three when Bea turned three, was an suicide victim. She was told about his passing at thirteen years of age. As a way to honor the man she loved, Bea took the stage name Bea and in 2017, she wrote an article on suicides and deaths that affected her family members for The Guardian. Bea (and her younger sister Sinead) were brought up in a home by Helen Moloney, who was a school teacher and jockey trainer who was also a professional jockey. They were obsessed with race meetings and horses. Bea was a trainer for her family's involvement at the Irish National Stud in her early teens. She knew, however that it wasn't what she wanted to do in a career and she preferred doing.
